* History *
The Band
The Ballou Brothers Band has been honing its musical skills in nightclubs, colleges, studios and private functions since 1977.
During the 1980’s the band performed regularly throughout New England and became a local favorite based on its breath-taking
live show. The band also sponsored its annual Foot Stompin’ Picnic to showcase other local talents.
Members of the Ballou Brothers Band have shared the stage with J GEILS and BLUES TIME, ENTRAIN, THE STOMPERS, JOHN
CAFFERTY and the BEAVER BROWN BAND, JAMES MONTGOMERY, ERIC BURDEN from THE ANIMALS and ROD PRICE from
FOGHAT.
In addition, individual members also branched off occasionally participating in other musical projects with local acts such as
FACTORY STREET, THE BENDERS, THE BALLOU MAGOON BAND, NORTHBOUND TRAIN, and MOWTH to name a few.
The Ballou Brothers Band features: Deane Ballou, guitar and lead vocals; Matt Ballou, guitar, and lead vocals; Gary Young guitar
and vocals; Mark Partridge and Gary Blaisdell, bass and vocals; percussionist Bennett Chandler; and Dave Ballou, drums,
percussion and vocals. True to their love of roots music, band members are also incorporating the fiddle, lap steel and mandolin
into their music.
Like most great guitar rock bands, legendary rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young
influenced the Ballou Brothers Band. And, while the band plays cover tunes with a vengeance, its sound and lyrics are uniquely it’s
own.
